Hey Everyone,
This is Daniel. Together with Matt and our cartel of designers and engineers, we are building Inanimate - a consumer electronics company for the AI Era.
This is Lab Notes, where we share our work and inspirations.

Here’s what’s happening in The Lab.
WORKS Waitlist is Live!
Sign-up now and be the very first to know when WORKS orders go live. (Psst! New website incoming).

Reminder: WORKS Launch Party
Come and join us from 5:30pm on 19th November in Shoreditch (London).
All five WORKS will be on public show for the first time. We can’t wait to see what apps you create.
And we’re working on some limited edition merc.
The whole squad of Inanimate collaborators will be there. Come celebrate with us.
RSVP now on Luma. Capacity is limited.
WORKS in Progress
It started over a glass of wine with an old friend. Now, eight weeks later, our weekly video diary about shipping WORKS continues.
In the coming weeks you’ll see us swing into production, and we’ll bring you into our launch event.
Until then, here is a recent episode where Kiran and I talk about the importance of preloaded behaviour for devices that can do anything.
What’s Happening
A lot! Two weeks to launch.
Human-Machine Interface: device activation is now near-instant and voice reliability is production-grade
Device Preloads: dialling in the behaviour that each device runs out-of-the-box
Launch Event: location secured, demonstration planning begun, and merc being designed
Website: deep in late-stage design, polishing copy, and prepping for videography shoot
MozFest 2026: demoing our tech and catching up with Betaworks founder friends
Legals: reviewing draft legals to ensure our launch is above board
Issues: From mechanical flaws and licensing barriers to data sourcing and etching quality - we have some issues to resolve. No showstoppers. This is the work. We keep moving.
What else?
Vulnpocalypse, zeptoverse, bluenami, multiplexing, and offlining.
Maybe see you at the Launch Party?
If not, see you next time.
